A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 130 The Favored One

Eve was so angry that her fingers trembled.

“If it were me, I would have beaten those two scumbags with a broomstick long ago!” She paused for a moment before gritting her teeth and saying, “You always let Brendon get away with everything!”

What could she do?

They say the favored one has nothing to fear. But what can she do when her heart was filled with Brendon and she forgave him time after time despite being hurt repeatedly?

Ranita didn’t say anything but lowered her head and asked softly, “Do you want something to eat?”

Sensing Ranita’s low mood, Dylan and Eve exchanged glances and changed the subject on their own accord.

Ranita ate some food with Eve while pointing at her forehead. “What happened here? You never told me about this,” Eve grumbled.NôvelDrama.Org owns all content.

Ranita briefly recounted what had happened while Eve snorted in disbelief. “Why would someone randomly chase your car like that? Could someone be behind this?” She turned towards Dylan accusingly. “Don’t you think so too?”

Dylan propped up his chin thoughtfully before replying, “I’ll investigate further into this matter.” He added, “It’s strange how there were so many cars on the road yet he chose yours specifically… And didn’t you mention earlier that he followed you for quite some distance?”

Indeed Ranita felt wronged – why did such an accident happen out of nowhere when she wasn’t even acquainted with the culprit? If someone was behind all of this… who could it be?

“Yes yes yes! Dylan please investigate thoroughly… don’t leave any potential dangers unchecked!” urged Eve as they decided on their course of action.

That night, while Ranita was browsing through information about studying abroad in Greece, Brendon came knocking at the door.

“What is it?” Ranita pressed against the door handle without inviting him inside.

Brendon gazed at her intently before saying heavily, “Let me go inside.”

“No need; we can talk here! Say what needs to be said then leave,” replied Ranitia impatiently – if there was no hope then she should not expect any good outcome; otherwise only she will end up getting hurt again anyway!

“Ranita… I’m sorry about today,” Brendon said with a formal tone. “Shannon accidentally fell into the water, and I couldn’t just leave her there.”

“Are you sure it was an accident?” Ranita couldn’t help but ask.

Every time Brendon was around her, every time he showed a little more care towards her, Shannon would appear out of nowhere. Her intentions were obvious.

Only Brendon believed that she meant no harm.

“What do you mean? Do you think Shannon did it on purpose?” Brendon paused for a few seconds before disagreeing. “There’s no reason for Shannon to do something like that.”

A heavy stone weighed down on Ranita’s chest.

“I don’t want to argue with you. I need some rest now, so please leave,” Ranita urged Brendon to go away once again.

Brendon’s face darkened as he pressed his palm against the door. “Ranita, I already apologized to you. Don’t be unreasonable.”

He pushed the door open halfway with ease and stepped inside.

“Did you get enough rest today? Does your wound still hurt?” Although his words were meant as concern, Ranita felt cold all over and turned around without saying anything.

“Ranita!” The man reached out his long arm and caught her before forcing her body upright while towering over her from above. “Answer my question.”

“Let go!” Without looking at him in the eye, Ranita tried to break free from his grasp.

But his fingers suddenly fell on her wound, and he seemed to let out a sigh. He said, “I’ll change your dressing and leave.”
