Chapter 33: Upcoming Date, Upcoming Danger
The narrow hallway leading to the restroom was dimly lit, adorned with vintage posters that harked back to a different era. Alejandro’s heart raced as he tightly gripped the compact voice recorder in his hand, his anticipation growing with each step.
Upon reaching the restroom door, he entered and swiftly locked it behind him. The peaceful solitude of the restroom provided the ideal backdrop for his covert mission. Alejandro’s hands trembled slightly as he initiated the voice recorder, hoping to capture the elusive secrets that had transpired.
As the audio playback commenced, Dave’s and the woman’s voices emanated from the device’s small speaker. Their whispers were low, but the recorder faithfully captured their words with clarity. Alejandro’s breath caught as he listened intently.
Dave’s voice resonated with resolve, “Marisa will be coming to my house in the evening. That’s when we’ll carry out the plan.”
Alejandro’s anger surged. The mention of Marisa and the ominous tone in Dave’s words filled him with a blend of frustration and dread. The puzzle pieces were gradually coming together, yet the revelation left him seething with anger over the betrayal and lurking danger in the shadows.
Upon concluding the playback of the conversation on the voice recorder, Alejandro became infuriated that Dave had the guts to make dangerous plans for Marisa.
“I swear, bastard, today is the day I’ll kill you with my own hands.” He said in anger before leaving the restroom.

Back at Marisa and Clarabelle’s apartment, Marisa was in her room, getting ready to visit Dave’s house. She stood in front of her dressing mirror, applying some light makeup to her face.
Marisa’s outfit showed she felt confident and attractive. She had on a stylish black dress that highlighted her body, fitting her nicely. The dress gave off a classy vibe, and Marisa wore it with ease, her self-assured smile showing her excitement about having Dave in her life.
While Marisa finished her makeup, her room felt full of excitement and love. Dave had won her over within a week, and their connection had her feeling giddy. Each stroke of her makeup brush showed how eager she was for the upcoming evening.
However, the tranquility of the moment was disrupted as the door to the room swung open without warning. Clarabelle, Marisa’s ever-supportive friend, entered the room.
“Hey, Clarabelle,” Marisa greeted her friend, acknowledging her unannounced intrusion.
“Are you going on a date?” Clarabelle asked as she sat on Marisa’s bed, watching her apply her makeup. She couldn’t help but notice the excitement radiating from her friend, and it was clear that something special was afoot in Marisa’s life.
Marisa glanced at her friend Clarabelle’s knowing smile. She couldn’t help but chuckle at the accuracy of Clarabelle’s observation. “Yes, it’s a date,” Marisa admitted with a sparkle in her eyes. “I’m going to Dave’s place. He invited me for dinner.”
Clarabelle’s face lit up with excitement. “That’s amazing, Marisa! I’m so happy for you even though you haven’t told me who this Dave is.”
Marisa continued to apply the finishing touches to her makeup, the anticipation building as she thought about the evening ahead. She had met Dave by chance, but their connection had been instant and powerful. In just a short time, he had become an important part of her life, and she was eager to spend more time with him.
As Marisa put the final touches on her makeup, Clarabelle couldn’t contain her curiosity. “So, how did you two meet? It seems like things are moving pretty fast.”
Marisa paused for a moment, a fond smile playing on her lips as she recalled the serendipitous encounter that had brought her and Dave together. “It’s a bit of a whirlwind, honestly. We bumped into each other at the hospital, and we just started talking. It felt like we’d known each other for a long time, and one thing led to another.”
Clarabelle nodded, captivated by her friend’s story. “Sometimes, the best things happen when you least expect them. I hope your date goes wonderfully, Marisa.”
Marisa finished her makeup, and with a deep breath, she turned to Clarabelle, her gratitude evident. “You know, Clarabelle, I appreciate your support and your friendship so much. It means the world to me.”
Clarabelle smiled warmly, her eyes filled with understanding. “Of course, Marisa. I’m here for you, always.”
Marisa’s expression turned more serious as she continued, “There’s one more thing I wanted to talk to you about, Clarabelle.” She hesitated for a moment, considering how to broach the topic. “I don’t know how long I’ll spend at Dave’s house, so I was wondering if you could help me by looking after Jeffrey while I’m gone.”
Clarabelle nodded with a reassuring smile. “Of course, Marisa. I’d be happy to take care of Jeffrey. He’s like a son to me.”
Marisa’s relief was palpable. “Thank you, Clarabelle. I knew I could count on you. It means a lot to me. I’ll be back as soon as I can.”
“No need to worry, Marisa. Spend as much time as you want with Dave. You can even pass the night at his place.” Clarabelle said with a teasing smile.
Clarabelle’s reassuring words brought a genuine smile to Marisa’s face. “Thank you, Clarabelle. You’re a true friend,” Marisa said, her voice filled with gratitude. “I’ll keep that in mind, and I’ll make sure to let you know if I decide to stay over.”
With a quick hug and a heartfelt thank you, Marisa left the apartment, feeling a sense of lightness and excitement as she embarked on her date with Dave.
As Marisa stepped out of her apartment and into the evening, she couldn’t help but think about the unexpected turn her life had taken. She was excited about her blossoming connection with Dave and grateful for her dear friend Clarabelle, who was always there to support her.
She immediately hailed a passing taxi, and as it pulled up to the curb, she gracefully entered the back seat. The city’s lights glistened outside the window, casting a warm, ambient glow that matched the joyous anticipation bubbling inside her.
“Eighth avenue street, please,” she told the taxi driver with a hint of excitement in her voice.
The taxi’s engine purred as they navigated through the city’s bustling streets. Marisa’s thoughts danced with visions of her time she would be spending wirh Dave, and she felt a mixture of nervousness and excitement.
