A Love Restored

A Love Restore 149

Julian hasn’t called in three days. He hasn’t answered my texts, he hasn’t answered my calls. I went to his place but he wasn’t there. I asked Julio about him but he didn’t give me very nice answers. Or any answers at all.

Ive decided to go see him in his office. I call up Julio and tell him to take me to the Central. He drives me there, even though it’s not that far away. It’s a security thing, he tells me.

Once we reach the Central, I spot Remi Ajax. He’s with a girl I don’t know, getting out of the building. “Hi” I tell him excitedly. “Haven’t seen you in days,

“Oh, hello, Ginny.” He smiles, “What are you doing here?”

Just here to see Julian.”

His eyes widen, “Oh, um,” he stutters, “I don’t think he’s in right now,”

The girl intervenes. He is! I just saw him upstairs.

Remi Ajax gives her a look. Well, that’s weird. “Well thanks, I tell her, “Till see you around Remi Ajax.”

He gives me a slow nod. When he leaves, I hear him cursing under his breath.

I tell Julio to hang around while I go see Julian. I make my way upstairs to his office. He has a new doormana burty man with red hair.

I’m here to see the Capo Bastone.” I tell him. “Tell him Ginevra is here.”

He looks me up and down. “You’ll have to wait, miss, Capo Bastone is busy. He is talking to some important people.”

I shrug. “Alright, I’ll wait around here.”

There’s a small couch a few steps away from the door. A girl is already sitting there, but I go on and sit down beside her.

It’s a really, really pretty girl. She’s very small – petite, short, skinny, but she has thick, curly black hair that I think reach her waist, I can’t really make it

out while she’s

sitting. She’s sitting cross legged, very daintily, and is engrossed in a book. I can make out she’s rich by her clothes. It’s a simple pink dress, but I know rich people clothes when I see them

Wow, um, really pretty. I think she sent me into a daze. The girl looks to the side and catches me staring. Shit.

“Oh, hello.” She lets out, in a very soft, sweet voice.

“Hi.” I say. “Are you here to see Dante?”

She nods, then closes her book, and turns to the side towards me. “Yes. He’s quite husy today, though. I’ve been here for a bit. Do you know him?” ©

Do I know him?

“Yes, well, he is the Capo Bastone.” I tell her, no need to disclose our relationship to strangers, no matter how sweet they may be. This girl has a voice Like honry. You know, she’s the kind of girl one wants to just bundle up and protect. And she looks young. Maybe 18 or 19.

She nods, then shivers a little. “He’s scary,” She giggles.

“I suppose. I’ve never seen you around, before.

Oh no,” she says, “I am just visiting Dante, I am not in the Italian mafia. I am with the Spanish.”

Visiting Dante, huh?

“Oh, alright. I’m Ginevra.”

“Nice to meet you, Ginevra. You re very pretty.“:

Oh.

Before I have the time to react, before anything, before I can even process this information, we see the door to Julian’s office open, and both of us are on our feet within seconds. Two men in suits filter out of there, and then Julian does, turning to the right, he stops short when he sees…me.

“Hi, Dante!” Nua says excitedly. She grabs a box I hadn’t seen before from the perfect. But I thought Id make something Italian, maybe.”

He takes the box from her, and gives her a small smile. “Thank you, Nua. She grins back, and I can see how giddy and happy she is, hanging off of every breath he takes, just like I do. “Why don’t you wait here just a little longer, I’ll be right with you. She pouts, but sits back down..

him, though conspicuously. “Bye, Ginevra!” Nua calls after me, and I give her a small wave.

Julian pushes me inside his office and slams the door shut behind him. He grabs me by my butt and pulls me to him, then his lips are on mine. I let him kiss me, because I’m too numb to say anything, or resist, leave kissing back. “I missed you.” He tells me

No one.”

I give him another try. “Are you sure?”

He sighs, kneeling down in front of me and taking my hand. “I don’t know what to say.”

“Try.”

Julian stares at me for a moment, then he buries his head in my thighs. When he looks up, his eyes are glossed over. “Darlin, just listen to me before making any judgements, alright?” I nod: “Go on.”

She’s the daughter of the Spanish Don. Mariano wants me to marry her.”

“And? Will you?

“Of course not?” He exclaims, “She’s a kid.”

She’s a kid. That’s a good reason. There’s no, of course not, I’ll marry you, or even an of course not, I’m with you, darlin‘.

“Why is she here then?”

He shrugs. “Well, we’re just meeting for the second time. I’ll have to date her till Mariano works something out.”

“Did you

take her out?” 1

He nods, slowly. “You’ve never taken me out.”

“I will, I will. You know how things have been between you and I.”

Did you kiss her?”

Say no, say no, say no.

“You gave me your symbol, Julian” I whisper. “Does that mean nothing to you? Why would you date her? And is she why you haven’t my calls?

you haven’t been answering

He hesitates. I have my answer. I feel tears spring to my eyes. No man has ever made me

ide me cry as much as he does. I absolutely loathe him, today.

“Goodbye, Julian”
