A Love Reawakened The Alpha’s Regret

CHAPTER 163

BOOK 2: CHAPTER 33

Rowan’s POV

Immediately Harriette bolted out of the room, Alpha Darius wanted to go after her. I had to stop him from taking that step. stood in front of the door and put my arms behind my back, to show him that I didn’t want to harm or challenge him. I only wanted to stop him.

Alpha Darius was a well–respected Alpha in the werewolf world. One of the very few that I looked up to.

He was brutal, ferocious, but reasonable. After finding out that Harriette could be his daughter, I had no doubt. They shared an uncanny similarity that couldn’t be found in anyone not related to him.

“What are you doing?‘ he growled.

“Stopping you,” I answered.

He grabbed hold of my shirt and pulled me closer to him. I smirked.

“Alpha Darius, my hands are behind my back. I have no intention of attacking you whatsoever but I’m sorry that I wouldn’t allow you to go after her,”

He gritted his teeth and glared at me. He was angry, I was messing with an Alpha of a higher rank. Alpha of a real pack and not a Rogue Pack.

Luna Angela touched his shoulder and he let go of my collar. She patted his hand and he released a deep breath before moving away from me and hugging her. He kissed her hair as she cried against his chest.

That wordless communication they just shared was powerful. It was a good sight but it wasn’t for someone like me so I didn’t need to yearn for such.

“Why are you doing this?” Luna Angela asked.

“She’ll erase her memory, won’t she?” Alpha Mason asked. He’d been silent throughout the altercation. I’d heard about him too. “Yes! If you push it any further, she’ll unknowingly erase her memory of you and we would have to start all over again. You would have to sit right there and reintroduce yourself and explain over and over again until you’re ready to take this as calmly as possible,”

I explained.

Alpha Darius still had that deadly glare on his face.

“What do you suggest we do?” Alpha Mason asked.

I shrugged. “I can’t decide for people of your rank. Do whatever you want to do but take it slow and steady. She’s fragile,” I gently whispered out the last part.

Harriette might be tough, stubborn, and as cold as ice, but heavens knows she was as fragile as she could get and only I saw her like that.

“We’ll take it slow and steady,” Luna Angela promised.

I nodded. “What do you think we should do now?” She asked her husband.

“Maybe wait for her to come around or we could leave and come back. We’ll do whatever you want,” Alpha Mason answered.

“I can’t leave yet. I can’t leave here without her,”

I squinted my eyes as I tried to make sense of what she was saying.

Did they come here with the expectation that after meeting Harriette for the first time, she would get up and leave with them?

Does that sound normal to them?

I shook

my

head.

That was why I hated getting myself involved in family drama.

“Are you leaving?” Luna Angela asked.

Yes,”

“Can you please go after her and see how she’s doing?” She asked.

That was what I was about to do but no way in hell would I admit to that. “I’m under no obligation to do that but I’ll look for someone who can talk to her,”

“Thank you,” she whispered.

I said nothing. I walked out of the office. The first person I saw was Gideon. He told me he saw her running towards the fountain. He asked what was wrong and I told him to mind his fucking business.

Gideon was getting too involved with Harriette and I hated that to my bones. I would watch them laughing and talking as if they were close buddies and that made me want to tear Gideon limb from limb.

When I got to the fountain, I followed her scent. She was sitting on a stone and staring into nothing.

“Did they ask you to bring me back?” She suddenly asked.

I scoffed. “I take no orders from anyone. In case you’ve forgotten, my father is the werewolf king. We’re kind of above everyone, even Alpha Darius,”

I sat on the stone a small distance away from her.

“What do you want then? You’ve been avoiding me for a long time. What do you want from me now?” She asked.

She finally turned to look at me. Her eyes were puffy and her face was red. I sucked in a deep breath. Seeing her like that angered me.

“I didn’t know you would notice,”

She chuckled. “I don’t know how I did either,” Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

It was on the tip of my tongue to tell her she’d noticed because we were mates but she had a lot to deal with at the moment. I shouldn’t go as far as telling her that too.

“You should go,” she spat.

“Harriette,” she shook her head ferociously.

“Leave me alone. You being around me is too much for me to bear,”

I clicked my tongue before interrupting her.

Angrily, I said, “You drive me crazy, Harriette. The funny thing is you don’t have to be around me for you to drive me crazy,”

I confessed even before I could control my tongue.

She went silent as she stared at me.

“You’re lying. You just want me to go away with those people,”

“They might be your people. Listen to their stories, hear them before you decide to not listen to them at all,” I advised her.

“You know nothing about me. You can’t sit there and tell me how those strangers could be my people,”

“You lied about your pack. I found out days ago, Harriette, and that was the reason why you decided to run away that night. Also, I know you were raised by a woman you call Mother. She was the one who told you your name was Harriette, wasn’t she?”

I asked her.

She froze. From her demeanor, I could see that I got something right.

11:35 AM

She mumbled something.

“What?” I asked her.

“I SAID FUCK OFF!” she suddenly yelled.

“You can’t sit there and tell me to accept the bullshit those people are throwing my way. Fine! Let’s say I accept them, where does that leave me?”

She suddenly asked.

I stood up and faced her. “What the hell are you talking about?”

“If I accept that I’m their lost daughter, what happens to Harriette? What happens to my life? The person that I am. I would have to question a lot of things and honestly….” Her voice cracked. “I don’t think I’m ready for that,”

I didn’t say anything for the next few seconds. She was right. Her identity as Harriette would be erased and that was like twelve to thirteen years of her life.

If it was me, I don’t think I would be ready for such a change either.

“Who are you, Harriette?” I asked what came to my mind. “Maybe you should start by understanding your identity as Harriette before you accept the real you who is their daughter,”

She stared at me.

“So I’m going to ask you one more time,”

“Harriette Adams, who are you?”

She placed one hand in her pocket. She chuckled sadly before she responded, “Your greatest nightmare,”
