Angela’s POV

“You!” I shrieked. The last person I’d expected to see in the car that day was Mason. He was wearing a baseball cap that hid his face but still, I could recognize him just from my peripheral vision alone.

“What are you doing here?”

“Hello Angela,” he replied, smiling sheepishly. His smile suddenly reminded me of Reina.

He was her uncle anyway. I’m sure she took something from him.

“What are you doing here?” I repeated. Before he could answer I asked other questions. “How are you here? Aren’t you supposed to be missing? I’m sorry if that sounded horrible but weren’t you missing for the past month now? How come you’re here? Does Darius know?”

He nodded.

“I would love to answer every bit of your questions, but we have to do it on the way,” he started the car and drove away at a high speed. Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.

I looked back to see some of Ryker’s men forcing their way out of the small gates just to chase after the car.

Werewolves have dangerous fast speed and Rogues might have better speed than regular werewolves since they’re used to running and hiding all their lives.

They almost caught up with the car until Mason maneuvered into a corner, losing them in the hot chase.

“Goodness gracious. That was intense, wasn’t it?” Grace asked and Mason laughed. “I thought they would catch up with us for a minute there,”

Mason added.

They looked jolly and not like strangers.

“How do you two know each other?” I asked, curiously.

They both shared a look before Grace turned to me. “You sure have a lot of questions this evening, Angela,”

“Well if you try answering one of my questions, maybe I wouldn’t have this many questions to ask,”

Mason gave me bottled water from a bag that was on the dashboard.

“I’m here to save you, Angela. Darius is back in the pack, waiting for Ryker. He

doesn’t know I’m here. If he does, he would insist on coming along and if he’s not there to put Ryker in his place, things might get out of hand. I think we all know Darius is the only person Ryker can’t hurt in that pack,” I nodded as if I was agreeing with him.

I wished he had told Darius and he was here. I would’ve held on tightly to him and never let go. It was stupid of me to leave the pack like me. I was sure he was mad at me. I missed him. I missed the sight of him, his touches, and his unending kisses. The thought of seeing him again brought me an indescribable peace.

“And, of course, Darius is aware that I’m no longer missing,”

“Then where were you? Darius was pretty worried about you,”

He looked at me through the rare mirror and gave me an apologetic look. “I’m so sorry I got you all worried. It’s a long story. I wouldn’t want to bore you with the details. It’s a long journey home, you should get some rest,”

I nodded. It was clear that he didn’t want to talk much about what happened and I appreciated that.

Something struck my mind and I decided to ask. “Do you happen to know how my sister is?

He cleared his throat. “Ah, Brittany, right?”

Perplexed, I answered. “Yes,”

“I’m sure she’s doing okay. I didn’t hear about her before I left the pack,”

I raised an eyebrow and looked at Grace. “Thanks, so, how do you two know each other?”

“We kind of grew up together at some point in our lives,”

“Kind of?”

I asked. Grace gave me a big smile. “Of course. Our parents knew each other for a while and we became forced friends for a few years,”

I raised an eyebrow. “Oh, that means you must know Darius,”

“Somehow,” she replied nonchalantly

“So, why did you pretend as if you didn’t know him when I told you who my mate was?” I asked her. What was with the pretense?

“I didn’t want to overwhelm you. I was just shocked to have seen you there. It was after you told me that I contacted Mason about you and he asked me to get you out of there. It’s not that big deal,”

I gave her a side look. Maybe it wasn’t a big deal to her but to me, it was pretty much a big deal.

“I know you don’t trust me right now, especially with what you saw last night. I know I asked you to trust me and I’ll be asking a lot from you if I ask you to trust me still. I wish I could explain everything to you right now but I can’t. I promise to explain everything there is to know when we get to your pack. I’m not whatever you think I am, Angela. I’m just trying to help around in the best way I can,”

I hummed. “You have a lot of questions to answer,”

“And I’ll answer all of them. I look forward to meeting your daughter. I’m sure she’s as beautiful as her mother,”

“You bet,” Mason added. I smiled at both of them.

Mason made us take a detour to the pack in case Ryker and his men were still waiting outside the gates. The detour we took added like two more hours to our journey including the one hour we used at a motel. Grace and I had to change my clothes and leave the old ones behind in case we were still being trailed behind by Ryker’s men.

As we drove into the pack after getting clearance from the men at the other gate, Mason asked, “Angela, home or home?” with a wide grin on his face.

I placed my hand on my chest and took a deep breath. “Home, please,”

“Yes, Your Highness,”

I giggled.

The feeling of finally being home was euphoric. I couldn’t believe it. I haven’t been gone for so long but I missed this place. I didn’t particularly miss the pack but I missed the people I left behind.

Mason packed in front of the house and jumped out of the car. I ran and opened the front door to find Darius on the staircase. I think he was walking up the stairs with a towel in his hand.

“My Angel,”

That was all it took for me to throw my hands around his neck and hug him so tightly. I burst into tears and he began soothing me. He told me I was strong, courageous, and beautiful too.

“I’m sorry,” I apologized.

“Never say that, my angel. You did nothing wrong, understood?” I nodded frantically.

“I should’ve waited for you,” I argued.

“Don’t say that, baby,”

He kissed me. I kissed him back. My life was perfect again. I was horne.
