“So,” Edward continued, looking towards me and our eyes met.

“I am sorry. You were so engrossed with your girlfriend and… I did not plan to scare you though.

“But you still pack a lot of punch.” He complained, rubbing his shoulders.

I smiled proudly, “Well, I got the best teachers.”

“How did you get here? How did you know there was a celebration tonight?”

“Are you kidding me right now with that question? Of course I am very much okay with you staying back. In fact I am elated.” I said, giving him a hug.

“But I did not see you at all.”

“You had many guests flocking around you, I did not want to be a nuisance nor a distraction.” He said, shrugging.

“Come on, let’s head back inside.” I said, pulling him back to the mansion with me.

“Not tonight Em. I have to head back.” He objected, sounding disappointed. “I’ll make it up to you, okay?”

“Who was that?” I turned to see Edward moving towards me. I stretched out my hands to take it and rested on him while he held me from behind.

“Just a friend from my childhood. I’ll introduce you both to each other soon.”

We stood like this for a moment and I forgot all that had happened between us before now and decided to focus on our future.

I shivered involuntarily and he wrapped his hand closer around me. “Let’s head back inside. It’s cold out here.” I nodded and followed him back inside.

I suddenly remembered, “what about mum and dad.?” I asked him, facing him.

“They left already. I saw them off myself?” Edward replied and led me up the stairs to our room. All the guests had left and the maids were arranging the room.

I noticed that I had not seen Roger all day. I stopped a worker passing by and asked her,

“Rachel, What about Roger? I’ve not seen him today.” I felt Edward stiffen behind me.

“I sent him on an errand. He will be back soon.” Edward answered from behind me and asked Rachel to leave.

“Okay then. I am just so tired right now that I want to sleep.” I said immediately we got to the room.

“No. Not yet.” Edward said as he traced a finger along my side, sending hot waves of shiver to my feet, I tripped.
