Oh? Well, I’d never thought about that.

The answer was probably a no. After all, I had rarely kissed anyone in my life. Even with Chris, the man I was in love with, I only ever stole some kisses while he was sick or drunkenly asleep. Regardless, those were simply on his cheeks or the back of his hands.

Yet, the kiss Brandon and I shared earlier was on the lips, which rarely happened with Chris.

Chris had only kissed me on the cheeks and forehead but never on the lips. He even once said, “We’ve known each other for too long. Maddie. I can’t kiss you on the lips.”

In truth, he simply did not love me. Some said that when a couple kissed, their tongues intertwined, which released dopamine. It was supposedly irresistible. Hence, if one could resist the other, there simply was no love.

“I don’t care about the what–ifs,” I replied to Brandon.

He tightened his jaw, and his Adam’s apple was bobbing. “But I want to know.” His gaze conveyed an unwavering determination. I felt pressured.

I became nervous and jokingly teased, “Wait, don’t tell me that was your first kiss. Is that why it bothers you so much?”

“Yes!” His resolute answer froze my smile.

Seconds later, I said something only a playboy would say, “Let me make it up to you.”

“And how will you do that?” Brandon asked quickly.

I was supposed to dominate this conversation, but I ended up following his lead. Of course, I knew what he wanted from me.. Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

Pursing my lips, I came up with the best way to effectively reject him. “Brandon, we’ve talked about this. We’re only putting on a show, and that includes all our physical interactions. If you can’t be professional about it, I can only look for someone else.”

“You’re gonna swap me out like you swap your outfits? Brandon’s tone was as cold as ice.

I smiled faintly, looking nonchalant. “I don’t want to, but considering your attitude, you leave me with no choice.”

Brandon no longer said anything. His figure radiated coldness as if he wanted to freeze me solid. I braved the chilling atmosphere and calmly poked his sore spo

“I understand you’re an innocent guy. Now that I think about it, I did take advantage of you by holding your hands, hugging you, and kissing you during our arrangement. Hence, our pretend relationship comes to an end now.”

With that, I shoved him away and got into the car. Seeing his still figure, I rolled down the car window and looked at him. “Aren’t you coming?”

He didn’t say anything.

With a smirk, 1 rolled the window shut and left with a step on the pedal.

As the car drove a few feet into the distance, I glimpsed into the rearview mirror and saw Brandon standing beneath the dark sky. He looked lonely as though the world had abandoned him.

At that moment, I felt terrible about my actions.

I wasn’t sure whether Brandon would return to his rental house opposite my place, but I knew I didn’t want to go back there.

As such, I called Lisa, but she didn’t pick up her phone. It seemed like she was working in the operating room again.

Since that was the case, I could only go home. Upon arrival, I purposely looked up to check Brandon’s windows before I hopped out of the car.

It was dark. He didn’t return.

I had no clue where he might go. I sighed deeply, then got out of the car and headed upstairs.

When I arrived upstairs, I saw a person standing in the dark hallway. Right then, the memory of my blind. date stalking me came into mind.

Immediately, I became tense and halted. Then, I turned around and fled!
