“Wait, so Del, if she’s using my credit card, then I’ll be able to check the transaction history and then we can track her location from there? That could help find her!” I state, feeling a surge of determination flood through me, wanting to use any means possible to locate Lottie

I have to talk to her and explain this shit before it’s too late!

“Hmm… yeah, I guess you’re right,” Del nods, seeming hopeful for me too. “But, if I were you, I’d make sure that you have that security footage before showing up to wherever she is! It will make the work of a difference if you at least turn up with proof.” He suggests, as I nod and pull up a number on my phone next.

I let it ring in my ear, before my attention is gained from the front door opening a

I turn around expectantly, before watching Anna walk in, with her face red, puffy and tired looking from evidently crying.

“Hello, Mr Colt, what can I do you for tonight? Have you had a security alert?” The guy eventually picks up, as I sigh out in relief from hearing his voice. I wasn’t entirely sure that he would answer this late at night, however, I guess they have to considering that they are a twenty–four hour security company after all

“I was wondering if you could download the camera footage from my personal office and email it over to me? Just the footage from today? It’s really urgent, and If you could do it as soon as possible tonight, that would be ideal.” I question, as Anna takes a seat opposite me- Del moving to hand her

sy done! No problem at all, I get that over to you in no time! The guy agrees, sending another wave of relief through as I finally feel that I’m getting somewhere…..

I thank him briefly, confirming my email address with him over the call before hanging up.

I turn to Anna, seeing her dab at her wet cheeks, breathing heavily. “I just w–wish… she would answer my c–calls!” Anna cries, as I swallow the lump in my own throat.

Anna looked how I felt in this moment, broken, worried sick and distraught.

“She must th–think… that I was happy to see Sofia there… b–but it was… just complete and utter shock! We haven’t seen or heard from her in years!” Anna throws her hands out, attempting to

explain herself as we all nod in understanding as she suddenly sobs.

“I seriously thought, that you had cheated on her Alex! Then when I saw that it was Sofia of all people… I almost f-fainted!” Anna continues, tears streaming down her face…

“But Del explained what you said actually hap–happened… but it seriously didn’t look good at first glance from our point of view–I don’t blame Lottle for thinking what she thinks!” Anna sniffles, breathing in and out at a rapid pace as the panics slightly.

I sigh, knowing that she is right. “I know it looks terrible but I seriously didn’t do anything to purposefully hurt Lottie! I get how this looks, believe me, especially since it was my childhood ex of all people standing there! We didn’t even date for long, before she fucking left town anyway – she means nothing! She’s out of her damn mind to even think that she has a chance with me again!” I fume, running a hand through my hair.

When they say the past comes back to haunt you. I’m assuming this is what they fucking mean?!

“If you have the camera footage to show Lottie… then that will… help a bit at least!” Anna nods frantically, as if trying to convince herself that everything was going to be fine.

“I’m just s–so… scared that… she will run off and leave town completely… leave us all behind and never look back…” Anna whispers, expressing her deep routed fear.

I wouldn’t let Lottie do that…

Anna was evidently hurting since she was always the first one to be by Lottie’s side in her times of need, whereas this time, Lottie had run off on own. I’m guessing that maybe she saw how Anna

had reacted when seeing Sofia, and panicked not knowing their background together.

Anna and Sofia were never close the way Lottie and Anna are… they didn’t get the chance to become that close considering Sofia just left us one morning.

“She’ll be back! We will find her, explain all of this, then she will be back and everything will be normal again!” Jace states firmly, trying to offer some comfort to us all,

“It’s not just that, Alex… there’s more going on with her than what you know of… we have to f–find her, and fast!” Anna’s face contorts, looking pained as she speaks up.

“What do you mean? What else has happened?!” I demand more, growing paranoid again, as I watch Anna close her eyes, taking deep breaths to calm. herself down

I study her, before meeting eyes with Del and

Del and Jace who also look worried and confused by what she could mean with her statement…

“It’s not m–my place to tell y–you… I’m sorry, but I can’t and I won’t tell! Let’s just try and find her, then everything will make sense in the end – trust me.” Anna’s words are disappointing, as she meets my eye and shows no room for argument.

Whatever it is, must either be serious, or might piss me off. That’s the only reason they would keep something from me in the first place….

get an email alert seconds after, as I pull up my phone grateful for the CCTV office footage with crystal clear quality as I click to watch it, turning my phone to share the events of what had truly

happened with the rest of the group.

They shuffle closer to me, getting a better look at the video, as I skip forward to the rough time stamp of when it had all happened..

We watch as I pace around my office, talking on the phone with someone – I’m guessing one of the guys from the mall. After that, right enough, with my back turned – Sofia slowly creeps her way into my office, closing the door behind her softly choosing to stand by the door for a while longer before she makes her presence known!

She’s a weird bitch! Why would she do that?

They see my surprised face as I turn around instantly, shocked to see her standing there myself, before we watch her saunter her way around my office- as I remain grounded, arms folded across my chest.

A sickening knot of anxiety wraps itself up in the pit of my stomach having to relive the encounter through the video….

They watch as I wave her off, disgust evident on my face as I attempt to wave my hand before she grabs hold of my arm. I shake her off moments later, putting some distance between us bath, which is when she decides to sit on my desk–flashing me her underwear.

We watch the footage, remaining silent, as Sofia attempts to tease me – only resulting in me turning my back on her.

We watch next as she evidently throws her head back in frustration with my rejection, before she hops off from the table, approaches me from behind, and wraps her arms around my waist.

All while that was happening in the video, as if on cue, the office door opens again – revealing Anna and Lottie – both gasping in shock before I throw Sofia off of me, sending her crashing down on to

the floor,

Lottie then runs off, as I follow soon after, before I pause th

the video – turning to look at my shocked friends.

“I told you I never fucking gcheated on her!” I state matter of factly, as Del holds his hands up in sum

surrender and Anna’s brows pull together in confusion.

“It makes total sense now, but to us just walking in on the last part, it looked so… so bad! Lottie has to see this tape!” Anna rushes her words, seeming somewhat relieved by the evidence now.

“Sorry Alex! I only heard what Lottle told me before I called you! Gotta give me a break here! Del sighs, falling back down onto the sofa as I nod once, understanding where he was coming from.

It doesn’t matter anymore, what matters now, is that we find Lottie, show her the proof, and bring her home!

“I pull up my credit card records and see everywhere that she has spent money today! I announce, as the others sit down patiently, watching menus away on my phone screen.

“I tried calling her again after I had called Anna, but she didn’t pick up that time Del adds, as I breathe steadily, keeping my cool..

I put in my passwords, opening up my account, before sifting through the masses of transactions – which started this morning whilst Lottie and Annu spent their day at the mall.

I scroll all the way down to the end, my eyes scanning the last couple of payments – one being an Uber taxi, and the other being at the Hilton.

“I think I know where she is!” My eyes light up as I announce the success, as Anna stands up instantly–ready to leave to go find her.

“The Hilton… Lakeside! I state, as everyone gets up and prepares to head out.

We have her now… we know where she is… she’s safe, in a hotel room… probably upset and breaking her heart over something that didn’t even happen.

Her mind will be doing overtime, blowing up what she saw today into one hundred different scenarios – but I don’t blame her.

“Let’s drive over there, it’s roughly only twenty minutes outside of town not too far! Del, you come with me and face can go with Anna! We can keep trying to call her on the way there too! I announce the plan, as everyone nods their clarity as we exit the house – heading for the cars.
