As we enter the room, Eros, his brother, sister and stepfather are sitting around the large seating area. Eros is staring down at the glass in his
hand and looks anxious.

As we get closer his head raises and he looks at me, I smile and sit next to him. His eyes go to his mum.

“A wonderful woman? Hell, Pauline worked in a children’s home, and you only had bad things to say about her,” John laughs.

“Eros, she is a wonderful woman. She didn’t even try to scare me away from you. Stop worrying.” I say. He looks at me with a shocked expression before turning to her and smiles back.
“If in a week I see you on the cover of the next business magazine with any other woman that isn’t Alexis, it will be you running Eros. Don’t mess this up,” she states, and he laughs. “Now, where are we sleeping?” She looks at him.
“You can all take the usual rooms you have when you come around. Just be aware that Clara is at that side as well,” Eros warns.
“Whose Clara? Is she single?” John asks, and my eyes widen. Eros glares across at him.
“You stay the fuck away from her.” Eros shouts, and John laughs.
“You defended her pretty quickly there, little bro,” John laughs.
“John, be quiet and behave. If you happen to see Clara, keep away from the girl. Do you hear me?” His mum glares at him.
“It was a joke, fuck, anyone would think I actually made a move with how you’re all acting,” he laughs. “I wouldn’t anyway, there’s a reason I agreed to visit, I proposed to Rosy. Now, before you mention not knowing her, that’s because I purposely didn’t introduce her until I knew she wouldn’t run from Mother,” he looks towards her, and we laugh.

She’s only protective, but I can see why Eros and John are always. single. She fights for them and doesn’t let just any woman in. The lift opens, and I turn to see Clara walking in. She looks happy. I watch as she stops, stares around us, and becomes anxious.
“It’s fine. Clara, come sit. This is my mum, Gail, sister Kacy, brother John and stepdad William,” Eros explains, and Clara sits next to me.
We sit talking for an hour before they go to bed, and Eros guides me to our room. I smile at him, but he still seems on edge.
“You dated a lot of women, Eros. How are you not used to it by now?” I asked, assuming he would be used to his mother doing this.
“You realise we’ve never had our hearts broken by anyone we ever dated. It was always our mother who did.” he states as he begins to remove his clothes, and I smile, watching him.
“She is protective.” I reply.
“Protective? She runs away everyone we date, why do you think John kept his new woman hidden for months?” He laughs and climbs onto. me, I lie back, and he stays above me.
“She wants you to have a partner who fights for you, Eros. The fact they ran screams they wouldn’t fight for you. I’ve not run, and I’m not running.” I argue.

“She asked me questions, Eros, but nothing more. You know what she was looking for in all our conversations?” I ask, and his head shakes. “How I spoke of you and if I defended you. That is what she wants, you to have someone who will fight for you,” I say while smiling.
“You defended me?” he asks, and I nod.
“I didn’t try to defend myself Eros, but I sure fucking did when she asked about us and how it began, I wasn’t letting her think you bought me in that way,” I state and he smiles.
“You’re fucking amazing. A true queen,” he says as he leans forward and kisses my cheek. “My mother is a hard one to impress, little impressed her, and you walked in that room like you had no fucking fear,” he says before leaning forward to kiss my other cheek.
“I was scared, Eros. I don’t know what you saw, but I was scared as fuck that she would hate me,” I say, and he laughs.
“I saw a woman who held her head high. It was powerful and beautiful,” and there it is; my cheeks are burning hot, and he simply smirks at me. “Every time it amazes me, you’re shy over being called powerful and beautiful, but not when it comes to your work.” he rolls. off me and pulls me flush against him.

“If my mother begins to contact you, please don’t agree to her coming every weekend. I can’t deal with her that often,” he says, and I laugh. I look at him. “You will see what I mean tomorrow, just wait, and then you will know why I am happy to see her at the most once a month. Now sleep, you
will need your energy tomorrow,” kissing me, he holds me against him and I fall asleep considering his words. His mother doesn’t seem that bad.
