Eros has explained to his guests that they need to leave due to a family matter. That matter, being his family is here right now. So, not only did his mother hear me screaming his name, but his sister, brother and dad did as well.

“You must be Alexis. Eros has spoken of you a lot on the phone,” she says while smiling. I’m Gail. This is my husband, Patrick, my other son, John, and my daughter, Kacy,” she smiles, and I nod.
“It’s nice to meet you all,” I say, and Patrick and John stare at me. Oh. god, this is worse. I bite my lip, and Eros pulls it free. Of course, I am about to freak out and overthink. The way they look at me is like they know who I am.

“So, how did you two meet?” his mum asks, changing the conversation or trying to. Eros laughs and looks at me. His hand grips my thigh.

“Through that business, mum, we did a private shoot together.” Eros explains, and now everyone gawps at him.
“You make porn?” Kacy stares at him.
“No, it was a private video, but I guess yes, as I was going to let it be released,” Eros explains and his mum just sits silenced. This is getting worse by the second.
I need to say something, though. “Your son is an amazing man and gentleman. I’ve seen men from all works of life in my work, including those with larger empires than your son, and he was the first one to treat me as a woman, not an object,” I say.
She looks at me, shocked, but smiles.
“Yeah, my baby brother knows how to treat a woman. That’s why he had a new one every week,” John laughs.
“He’s picky, John, and didn’t care to waste time on women if they weren’t right for him. Unlike someone who just goes for anything with a pulse, you’re forty and still don’t have a permanent girlfriend,” Kacy mocks.

“I manage the location I used to work at,” I reply.
“I didn’t realise there were promotions within the porn industry?” She

“There isn’t, but my manager, the person who ran that location, no longer works there, and I took over,” I explain, and she nods.
“How does the industry work? If you don’t mind me asking?” She looks
at me.
“That depends. Some people have a manager who finds them the work, while others work without a manager. These are the ones who have a full production team behind them. The ones paid thousands. Each organisation has their own rules and such.” I explain, and she nods.
“I would like to speak with Alexis alone,” she says, and I try not to
hide.

“Mother,” Eros looks at her.
“I’m not going to say anything wrong. Would you react like that if she worked as a nurse?” His mum looks at him.
“Don’t scare her off, Mother,” Eros states, and she laughs.
“I’m sure this one isn’t so easily afraid, Eros. Even I can tell she doesn’t run from her problems,” she smiles and stands. Eros looks at me and shakes his head. Leaning forward, I kiss his cheek and stand.
He sighs and watches me as I follow her into the dinning room. I won’t run, she’s right, I don’t run from my problems, so no matter how much of a hard time she gives me. I won’t run.
I know Eros thinks I will, but I won’t.
