A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 134 Blushing Cheeks

The man’s palm felt hot against skin.

Ranita’s back trembled as she placed her fingers on his hand and said softly, “The decision to leave or stay is up to you.”

Ranita threw the decision right back at him.

“Haha!” Brendon chuckled softly, took out his phone from his pocket in front of Ranita, turned it off and tossed it onto the table. “I’m not leaving.”

Ranita was a little surprised.

“Whatever,” she thought. She couldn’t kick him out now that he had moved in. What else could she do?

Ranita lay on her side in bed, feeling uneasy.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

“What are you thinking about? You can’t hear me even if I shout,” Brendon came up behind her and wrapped his strong arms around her waist. With a gentle tug, he turned her around and enveloped her in his embrace.

His breath was hot against hers.

His gaze fixed on hers like a predator hunting prey in the dark.

Ranita pursed her lips as he held onto her fingers with long slender bones that were undoubtedly the most beautiful pair of hands she had ever seen. They hardly held hands outside but every time they were together like this on the bed, these hands would always make Ranita feel alive again.

But when she thought about how these same hands had caressed Shannon before, Ranita felt suffocated inside.

“Brendon, I want to sleep!” Ranita pushed away from him and said firmly, “I’m hurt. I need rest.”

She turned away from him and watched as the numbers ticked by on the clock: it was already eleven o’clock at night!

Brendon fell silent for a few seconds before placing his hand back around Ranita’s waist again with an alluringly deep voice whispering into ear, “Rest well. I won’t disturb you.”

This made Ranita’s body stiffen slightly.

“Don’t be nervous; just relax like we used to,” Brendon whispered once more into ear before falling silent again.

Relax like they used to?

How could things possibly be like they used to be? Before they were married but now they were just two people who wanted nothing more than divorce each other!

It made Ranita’s heart ache unbearably.

She thought she wouldn’t be able to sleep, but after three years of sleeping together, they had already grown accustomed to each other. After turning a few times, Ranita fell into a deep sleep in Brendon’s embrace.

Their breathing was steady.

Brendon gazed deeply at the woman and reached out to pinch her nose, softly muttering, “Heartless.”

Brendon remembered the earlier phone call, which was from Amiya, asking him to return to Boulderland Mansion because Shannon was feeling upset and couldn’t sleep.

Amiya said a lot, but Brendon’s mind was preoccupied with Ranita.

He decided to stay.

“Divorcing me, you must be happy… Is the person you like Dylan? He’s not that great, what do you really like about him?” Brendon’s voice was soft, and sometimes even certain words were not spoken aloud.

Ranita, in a daze, heard the last sentence and smiled vaguely as if in a dream. She murmured indistinctly, “Wherever he is, I like him.”

Brendon, she liked everything about him.

Brendon’s eyes darkened, and the only trace of tenderness dissipated, leaving behind a cold and icy demeanor.

Ranita slept well.

She didn’t know if the child’s biological father was present, so the child didn’t dare to act recklessly. Not only did she sleep through the night, but she also didn’t feel nauseous or sick when she woke up in the morning.

Ranita turned her head and saw Brendon still sleeping. She gently moved his arm that was draped over her waist.

“… Huh? Where are you going?” Brendon pulled her back into his arms.

The bed was already small, and now they were even closer, tightly pressed against each other.

The warmth of the man’s body came close, and a certain part energetically brushed against her lower back.

Ranita’s face turned red in an instant.
